Camel Toe... seriously - admit it - you can't resist it... its making me all tingly. That split just makes my toes curl. Pure sex baby. And the nipples just so big... and hairy...
Ok so maybe the hairy nipples part isnt so sexy... but dont they make ya want to pull on em?
Today was the much awaited and anticipated trip to the Oasis Camel Dairy for our Camel tour! Wendy always comes up with the neatest things to do and rounding out our group was Crissy, Heidi, Yoly (no blog) and her daughter Grace. We met up for some nosh and caffeine at Cosmos'
Coffee shop and unsuccessfully tried to get Mr Crissy to come with us. Piling into the car we headed up to Ramona, and surprisingly there were a lot of people there already - around 30-35 on the ranch.
We got a glimpse of quite a few interesting animals before the tour actually began.
A coop full of turkeys, a pot bellied pig, and this lovely bird who was peering out at me as intently as I was peering in. Some sort of an African crane I believe - Heidi thinks its a Secretary bird
The highlight of the exotic animal show was this Australian sugar glider. Mucho cuteness in a wee package of furry goodness complete with stinky glands. But I'd say that the cuteness overrides the stinky glands easily. My wee musky muffin bit...
After indulging in that opening act we moved onto the main attraction, Camels camels camels. They have prehensile lips... how many times have we wished for that particular blessing... or at least be the recipient of that particular blessing. Handy... definately handy.
And no that camel is not dead and yes that is a zebra in there with them. The dairy has quite a few exotics there including multiple parrots, a pot belly pig, the camels, and zebra. They use the milk in their soaps and plan to eventually make it available for human consumption. We didnt get to taste it or anything but we did get to see the milking happen. Seems that camels are finiky about when they make their milk available - something about being a nomadic animal and being able to move quickly and often. So their milk only drops into their teats (that word sounds like titties to me) when their babies nuzzle into them and stimulate them. Then once the milk drops, you only have 90 seconds to get it before its gone again. Talk about nursing under pressure.
After the dairy tour we headed to Julian and picked up some pie (I had the strawberry rhubarb which was mighty tasty), some Dudley's bread and candy from King Leo's Candy shoppe. Quite the haul of excess touristy stuff that none of us needed :)
And no one got spit on.
And if you've ever wondered what a potbellied pig having a dream is like... voila...
And no one got spit on.
Camels? There are camels. In SoCal. Who knew?? Sounds like a wonderfully fun day - and I think I'd love the sugarglider too!! Soo cute!

This was a trip I definitely wished for video and sound--for the turkeys when we pulled up and the goofy baby camel running. Fun trip. I really dug how enthusiastic they were and how into working together with all the animals natural behaviors they were. And that milk was beautiful.

Mucho fun! I was totally wrong about the Secretary Bird, it's an African Crowned Crane: http://www.rogerwilliamsparkzoo.org/what_to_see/africa/african_crane.cfm
